Escape Room Learning Game

The Need:

A business unit was launching a new software platform to support a redesigned financial product offering. The tool was designed to help clients make more informed financial decisions while driving increased sales for the business.

The Learning & Development (L&D) team was tasked with creating an engaging training program to help employees understand:
  • How to use the new software effectively.
  • Why the tool was valuable to clients.
  • How leveraging it could lead to higher sales performance.

The Solution:

Because this was a completely new system being introduced, we recognized that maintaining learner engagement would be critical for adoption and retention. To create a highly interactive and motivating experience, the Instructional Design team chose to develop an Escape Room–style eLearning game as the core training solution.

In my role as Developer and Graphic Designer, I was responsible for transforming the storyboard and instructional materials into a fully functional and immersive eLearning experience.

My Role & Key Contributions

  • Expanded and refined content in collaboration with Instructional Designers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to enhance engagement and reinforce learning objectives.
  • Conceptualized and designed all custom graphics, visual assets, and game elements to align with the training’s theme and tone.
  • Developed and programmed the interactive game using Articulate Storyline, ensuring smooth functionality and an intuitive learner experience.
  • Led internal testing, identifying and resolving technical or design issues prior to pilot release.
  • Coordinated reviews with SMEs, Instructional Designers, and Business Leaders to ensure content accuracy and alignment with business goals.
  • Launched a pilot program, gathered learner feedback, and implemented targeted revisions to improve usability and engagement.
  • Released the final version company-wide and monitored learner data, performance metrics, and feedback post-launch.
  • Conducted post-implementation reviews at one-month and three-month intervals to assess business impact, making continuous improvements to ensure training effectiveness and alignment with sales objectives.
